Hoarfrost is a new thing to me. I suppose I’ve seen it before in smaller form and not had the word to name it.
There were quite a few nice events this night, including meteors with persistent ion trains, aurora, airglow:
This is one of the nicest persistent ion trains I’ve captured. It lasted until the first light of dawn started washing the stars from the sky.
