First, starting with the nearly full moon rising.

Short and sweet

I rarely like to shoot time lapses when the moon is so full. The stars are mostly washed out and there’s seldom much interesting going on.

I decided to point my telephoto lens at Cerro de la Olla (Pot Mountain) this night, because of a recent news story: A Taos close encounter of the hunters and aliens kind.

This object in the video below is not the ISS, nor is it an airplane scheduled to arrive at Taos Airport this night. I have no idea what it is, but the absence of blinking lights as usually seen on aircraft is a mystery.

Here’s the full night plus star trails.

Here’s a couple star trail composites I made including one of the unidentified aircraft.

Tres Piedras, New Mexico

Life on the mesa is good.

It’s very dark at night.

We have excellent views 360 degrees around the house.

It’s great for watching the moon rise and sun rise.

The sky changes constantly out here.

We see a lot of ravens.

The view really lends itself to black and whites.

Spectacular lenticular clouds here!

The jack rabbits rock! Just look at these eyes.

Heavenly views. Notice that iridescence below?

I’m fortunate to see almost every sunrise.
